Ryan Van Horne

Ryan Van Horne is journalist, writer and documentary director. His work has appeared in magazines and newspapers from coast-to-coast and his TV writing credits include Sticks and Stones, a documentary about cyber-bullying. He has also written four plays and his first play, Department of Common Sense, was a Fringe Hit at the 2013 Atlantic Fringe Festival. Ryan has also written and directed two documentaries, including Beyond The Game, about Larry Uteck, Chris Flynn, and the Saint Mary’s Huskies football team, and A Fragile Peace, about the experience of Canadian peacekeepers and citizens of the former Yugoslavia in the Bosnian War. Ryan was also a co-winner of an Atlantic Journalism Award as a member of The Daily News team that provided first-day coverage of the Westray Mine Disaster. He is an occasional actor and avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast. Born in Ontario, he grew up in Quebec, but, thanks to his love for the ocean, his eastward migration has been on hiatus for 29 years.
